Taking time to relax will keep you sane as a part-time MBA student! This post is part of our ongoing series featuring fun activities in Boston.
If you’re looking for a fun place to meet some great people, SkeeBoston can help you out with that. SkeeBoston, run by Duke and Everett, has been running a skeeball league for more than 5 years. You can either find 2 friends and join as a team of 3 or join individually and be put on a team that needs more players. Be sure to sign up for the newsletter if you plan to join, since spots fill up very quickly once sign-ups are open.
Teams play every Thursday on the 3rd floor of The Greatest Bar, near the TD Garden. Roll times range from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, with each game being around an hour long. The skeeson is 8 weeks long, followed by play-offs and then finals during an amazing event called Super Saturday. Super Saturday is a day full of individual competitions, alcohol, and the distribution of trophies for the skeeson (and every trophy comes with a shot, of course). Competitions on this day are open to everyone, even if they have not previously participated.
Everyone is extremely friendly and many people get very competitive. If you have never played skeeball before, or haven’t played in a long time, don’t worry! You will learn different strategies and tips from the veterans. Every team needs to come up with a team name (skeeball puns are encouraged), along with a costume. You will meet some great people and everyone is just there to have fun. How will YOU spend your Thursdays?
